Euro Summer Girls’ Trip in Your 40s: Rome and
Capri Itinerary

A Euro Summer Girls’ Trip in Your 40s

A Euro summer girls’ trip in your 40s is less about racing through Europe and more about choosing the right hotels, restaurants and experiences. We paired three nights in Rome with four nights in Capri for a trip that felt luxurious, fun and full without needing a vacation from the vacation.

Dining was the absolute highlight. When we showed a local our restaurant itinerary, she asked, “Who made this?” She assumed someone local had personally handpicked every reservation, which felt like the ultimate compliment.

I love coordinating a girls’ trip, from where we stay and eat to what we wear. The goal is not for everyone to match perfectly; it is to create a fun, cohesive feel. Our themed nights made getting ready more exciting and made the photos and videos that much more memorable.

Bri In Capri

Mirabel

ROME: THREE NIGHTS

WHERE WE STAYED: Hotel de la Ville, a Rocco Forte Hotel sits just above the Spanish Steps. It was the best possible location for luxury shopping, restaurants and easy access to central Rome.

DAY 1: ARRIVE IN ROME

DAY: Check in, unpack and explore the Spanish Steps and nearby shopping streets. Starting a trip with excellent shopping is never a bad decision.

NIGHT: Dinner at Mirabelle.

DAY 2: SHOP AND EXPLORE ROME

DAY: Keep the day flexible for shopping, sightseeing and enjoying the city without turning it into an endurance event.

NIGHT: Dinner at CiPASSO.

DAY 3: SEE ROME COMFORTABLY

DAY: Take a four-hour golf cart tour to cover more of Rome without spending the entire day walking in the summer heat.

NIGHT: Dinner at Aroma overlooking the Colosseum.

CAPRI: FOUR NIGHTS

WHERE WE STAYED: Hotel La Residenza Capri was the most affordable hotel we found in a comparable location. Similar nearby options were upwards of €6,000 per night. Its central location near the Piazzetta, Via Camerelle, restaurants and shopping was the real selling point.

DAY 4: ARRIVE IN CAPRI

DAY: Check in, walk through the Piazzetta and get ready for the first themed night. Capri officially begins when everyone is dressed and holding a cocktail.

DRESS THEME: MERMAID NIGHT — ocean-inspired colors, shimmer and island-ready looks that made our photos and videos feel even more special.

NIGHT: Drinks at Caesar Augustus, followed by dinner at La Terrazza di Lucullo.

DAY 5: THE CLASSIC CAPRI DAY

DAY: Spend the afternoon at La Fontelina for swimming, lunch and views of the Faraglioni. This was peak Euro summer girls’ trip energy.

NIGHT: Drinks at Capri Rooftop, followed by dinner at Aurora.

DAY 6: CAPRI BY BOAT

DAY: Take a boat tour to Conca del Sogno and experience the island from the water.

NIGHT: Drinks at QuisiBar, followed by dinner at Da Paolino. The lemon-tree setting is extremely Instagrammable, but the food was not good. Go for the ambience and photos or skip it for a better meal.

DAY 7: SHOP CAPRI

DAY: Walk from the Piazzetta to Via Camerelle and leave several hours for luxury stores, local boutiques and the smaller surrounding lanes. Shopping deserves a real place in the itinerary, not whatever time is left over.

DRESS THEME: SUNSET NIGHT — outfits inspired by the colors of an Italian sunset. Coordinating the palette gave our final-night photos and videos an extra-special finish.

NIGHT: Final dinner at Da Gelsomina in Anacapri.

What Made This Itinerary Work

LOCATION: Both hotels were chosen for walkability and access to shopping and dining.

DINING: The restaurant lineup was the strongest part of the trip, with Da Paolino as the one exception.

PACE: One daytime focus and one evening plan kept each day full but manageable.

THEMES: I love coordinating the little details. Mermaid Night and Sunset Night made getting ready more fun and made our photos and videos that much more memorable.
